Audio Receiver Unit Busted...
Hi,
Our 2003 e500's radio unit just went out and Mercedes Dealership is claiming $1800 to replace it! Before I proceed with that option, I was wondering what my aftermarket options are? I was thinking of "upgrading" to a touch screen with Nav, Ipod, integrated phone, etc. Ideally, I'd like to integrate with the factory CD changer and speakers. Anyone have any experience with this situation and can provide advice?

I did the upgrade to the euro model with nav and enjoy it quite a bit. I don't think that there are any aftermarket audio mods will blend in as well as the factory stuff without spending much much more than $1800. for about half that you should be able to buy the upgraded euro dash unit, the dav dvd and get it working on your own with just a few hours work at most.
