Crank Position Sensor Issues? 2005 e500

My e500 has only 32k miles and is started with the classic CPS symptoms I read about on these forums. It would die and restart after sitting for a hour or so. I replaced the CPS ( with NAPA's Ecklund brand) and it seemed fine for a couple days.

the car now will miss when it climbs upwards of 4000 rpm's and and die if I don't back off of the gas pedal right away. However, it will now start right back up and I can drive right off every time. The CEL comes on now after it dies and it is saying that it's the CPS.

Should I try to replace it with OEM? Bosch or Hella brand maybe? would that make a difference? also in the replacement process do you need to do anything else besides just replacing the CPS?

any input would be greatly appreciated

Ordered a Bosch Crank Position Sensor from autohauz, and will put it on when it gets here. I hope that solves the problem.

Doesn't Bosch make MB OEM parts?

I believe Bosch is the OEM part for the Crank Position Sensor.

I have read that after installing the part, you should slowly rev your motor up to 3k rpm's for about 2 minutes to sinc the timing.

Hoping installing an OEM part and slowly increasing rpm's up to 3000 for 2 minutes will get this machine running the way it was intended too.

Looks like I'm having a similar problem. The car was dead on Wednesday morning after leaving it parked overnight in the hospital garage. Came back to it around 4 that afternoon and she fired right up. I drove it home and it's been in the garage since. It's started every time I went out to check on it (randomly in the last 4 days) until this morning, when it again won't start.

I'm getting a VERY long crank but the car will not turn over. Car could not be jumped and battery level seems ok, so I don't think that's the issue. It just keeps cranking. I should note that while I was able to get the car to start the last few days, I got no CEL. Does the CPS malfunction without a CEL?

Does this sound like the CPS to ya'll? I'm only a little bothered thinking it may be something else since I never got a code. I hooked up a OBDII scanner and that did not give me any codes either. I have already ordered another CPS from autohausAZ regardless.

Thanks.

Usually CEL comes on once car is started, i had problem with CPS when it was hot, after car would sit for couple hours it would fire right back up, If you are able to get it started when its cold then yes its CPS

That's the weird part, after the first incident on Wednesday, I still didn't get a CEL. The car's pretty much been cold every day after that since I haven't driven it. I've tried all day yesterday and again this morning and still haven't had any luck getting it to start. Just continues to crank with no turn over.
