2007 E-Class vs 2008 C-Class | Which one?
I can state that I'm extremely happy with the handling of the '08.
I assume that the luxury versions would be a little bit less happy under hard cornering.

Ultimately, however, I am likely going with the 2007 E-Class, black, rear-wheel drive, with the E350 trim to start off what I am predicting will be many successive years of owning solely Mercedes-Benz vehicles. My rationale behind this is that everyone, I mean EVERYONE in my area seems to have a C300 Sport when it comes to the deutsch automobiles. Truly. The E-Class is a little more unique to my situation - so while I value the C-Class' sporting youthfulness and nimble handling, I will disregard the fact that I might seem older than I am (30+ would actually seem quite old to me at this phase of my life =D) in an E-Class.
However if anyone else has an opinion, I truly welcome all viewpoints and certainly would like to hear more despite my late responses.
However, the W211 is on a whole other level in terms of refinement, luxury, attention to detail inside, and class/maturity (C-Class is M-B's version of a "Kids Car" basically). The cars have very different looks and characters, but the very elegant and classy W211, with an AMG Package, is a nice mix of stately Luxury in a comparatively sensual way, with some Sport.
Safety wise, it's probably a wash, and I only say this because the E is a bigger car, which will enhance its passive safety over the smaller and more compact C-Class, however taking size out of the equation, the C is built much stronger, has stronger steels, more High Strength and Ultra High Strength steels, and if you compare the IIHS side-impact pictures, the C looks bomb-proof. Also, the C has a knee and pelvis Airbags. Again, however, the E-Class and W211 proved to be statistically the safest cars on the roads during their respective production years.
I'd go with the E-Class. Just a more expensive car, and when you drive it, you feel that extra "expensiveness". I personally buy M-B for Luxury, not Sport (others do Sport better, but nobody does Luxury with Sport undertones better).
30 looks a lot different from the perspective of 57

No bad choices here...best wishes with your new car either way, of course.
