DCT Steering Wheel on..let the mods continue
Hi All,
Have just installed my new "DTM" steering wheel.
She's at MB this morning awaiting this to be fitted..lots of head scratching and "huh's..??"

You guys spend your money on such weird stuff in these times of turmoil. Why would you go putting on a mph display when you are in km/h? That display has to be a few hundred.. nobody will notice it but you, nobody will care but you, and the numbers will be off for you.. so not even functional. Probably end up getting tickets. I'd of much rather spent that money on a few nice dinners than an amg display nobody will care about.
The wheel on the other hand looks great and is of course functional.

I think I can safely say we all love our cars and if we spend a bit on them, so what? Of course it's only for us..we wouldn't be driving them if it wasn't

It's the 1990's equivalent of putting a Type-R sticker on everything.. that went pretty well.
A sheep in wolves clothes.. is still a sheep. I think its more honorable to rock the sheep clothes, and earn your way to a real AMG model. All these little accessories could be a savings for the next one.. $200 here, $200 there.. those are car payments.

Sorry to burst your little bubble, but where I live an equivalent AMG costs probably more than your house...$350,000 for an E63, or about $4,000 a month on lease so some of us don't have the privilege or opportunity to own one, no matter how hard we may work for it.
So my sheep is going to have to be happy with pretending to be a fuel guzzling ( in our current times, remember?) 5.4 litre V8!

You're no different than the losers here in the states that put cobra emblems on their regular mustangs, type r stickers on their hondas and integras, SS emblems on their v6 camaros, or even the ones that put the AMG emblems on their non-amg cars (worst is the ones who put them on cars that never had an AMG model period)
If you can't afford the car, you don't deserve the distinction of having one that those who paid the money for the car, have. You probably support the companies on ebay who copy brabus and kleemann and carlsson parts because they're cheaper than the actual, when all you're doing is contributing to the downfall of companies like this.

Tell you what, it's my car and that gives me the right to do whatever I wish with it. If you aren't too happy with what I have done with it, too bad. Keep your negativity to yourselves and brood.
Your comments, I'm sure will go down quite well with all the other forum "biggies", who have spent many hours and thousands of their hard earned dollars improving their cars to THEIR liking, without needing your approval!

Hi Sher Judge,
I highly recommend Ivan - DCT. The steering wheel is just so well made and the leather feels so much better than the old wheel. I do find it a bit too thick though.
His shipping was fantastic. I sent him a query on the shipping status after about a week or so and the wheel was delivered the next day!

Update :
The Cluster is in, BUT (obviously, there has to be a "but"), i'm getting an error message saying "Cruise Control Inactive". Thought it may be the ESP that knocks off with a battery disconnect, but a bit of driving and steering left-right got rid of the ESP error, but the CC error persists...Stealer is scratching his head..LOL..
Benz-O, the steering feels just fantastic, BUT (there it is again..), a bit too thick on top between the 10 and 2 o'clock palm grips..my hand measures about 8.5" from the tip of my middle finger to the base of my wrist, and I cant get my fingers completely around it! It has added about 100 EHP (Emotional Horse Power) to the car though!!

I'm sure it makes mods harder to find at times...and having owned a LHD car that only had an RHD shop manual available, I can sympathize with the fun.
By the way, I'm firmly in the camp of doing whatever you want to your own car. I've got a Type R emblem on my lawn mower, but I think I'm going to add an AMG one instead. I'm a stock-look kind of guy with cars, but as long as you're not making your car unsafe or annoying (fart can exhaust, 10,000-watt subwoofer, or both) it's not my problem. Go crazy!
