Brilliant, or epic fail?
Can't believe I'm saying this, but the look is starting to grow on me. It's like one of those bald, bug eyed chihuahua dogs. So ugly, they're cute.
Blew a tire on the SL's 20 inchers, two weeks ago. While waiting for replacement tires, getting them mounted etc..., I was rocking the stock SL Alphards. I put the 20s back on today and my wife said, "Hey, why don't you put those on the E-Class". I responded with "Run along little darlin', I'm doing big boy stuff over here. Nobody in their right mind would put Alphards on a W211."
Uh.....right?
And the gratuitous iphone gas station shots:
Here's what came off. E63 P30 wheels:

HA! Too late, they're on there for a minute.
As it turns out, the rear tires of the E63 wheels are down to the wear bars, imagine that. The tires on the SL wheels are practically brand new, since all they do is sit in my basement. My wife loves these on the E-Class, and since that car is her current weapon of choice for her daily road-rage battles, I'm gonna let them marinate on there for a while.
I guess when late fall comes, I'll slap these back on the SL and put a new set of rubber back on the E63 wheels.

I like it since it gives off the one of a kind look - and because they are authentic MB rims and not some knock offs. Is it me or does the car sit a little higher?

I gotta say I don't hate it...just takes some getting used to since I have never seen it done before.
On a side note, you have convinced me to get my roof done in black

I've always liked those wheels on the SL. I like how Mercedes has always been making some kind of variation of the 5 spoke on their cars starting way back.
They actually look alright on the E Class. But the one thing it keeps making me think of is that some 'fantasy exotic used car dealer' put the wrong wheels on the wrong model MB. If you know Mercedes, then you know those are for the SL. But since very few people on the road even know that, then I guess it's no big deal. In the end I'd rather see the 'right' wheels on it instead of obvious SL wheels. But in the meantime, go for it.

If nothing else, I've completely confirmed that if anyone is looking for a set of wheels for their W211, any iteration of an 18" SL (R230) wheel will fit. Even with the SL tire sizes of 255/40/18 and 285/35/18, with zero rubbing issues. They don't stick out or nuttin'
