Heated mirror defrost speed, differences

As the temps have been dropping here, I have noticed a huge difference in the time it takes to defrost (de-mist?) my Driver's side and passenger side mirrors. The driver's side is clear within about a minute of turning on the rear defroster. The passenger side, after 5 minutes, has cleared about 2 inches of the mirror closest to the car, the rest slowly clears up as I drive.

My mechanic pulled the codes and didn't find any errors for the passenger side mirror. Is this normal or is the heating element failing?

I thought it was only the drivers side that had the heating element?

I think the passenger side mirror isn't *auto-dimming*, but I think that both outside mirrors are supposed to be heated.

But I'm not positive.

I ran into this issue as well. I took mine back and the dealer checked other cars in the lot and found the passenger side mirror was 10 degrees cooler than the drivers side when in heating mode. Seems to be designed this way. Doesnt make sense, as my Passat heats both at same temp.

Good one! And what about that front seat not moving back a few inches automatically when you open the door and having to tell your passengers the time because the clock is on;y visible to the driver?

Well that explains why the computer isn't throwing any codes. Oh well. Guess my Passat spoiled me too

I also have the same problem with my passenger side mirror, takes much longer to heat up.
