Euro Comand question (enabling video in motion)

Hi guys. I have a question for all you Euro comand gurus out there. I am trying to purchase one. The seller states that the unit works but the video in motion does not.

The version of that unit is A211 820 41 97 001 from 2007.

My question is: can the engineering menu be accessed in order to turn off driver distraction (enable video in motion)? Thanks in advance!

The unit must have a "too fresh" SW to allow VIM from the engineering menu. But on an NTG1 COMAND it is easy to enable with Star (if you really feel it makes sense).

Thank you very much for the fast response. I really do appreciate it. Can you please explain to me what NTG1 stands for? Also, the seller did not mention if he tried to enable the engineering menu. How far back does the update need to be in order to access the engineering menu?

Diesel Benz, I found what you posted in another thread:

NTG1 is the Comand W211 cars had until May 2008 (build date), from June 2008 onwards W211 was fitted with a more modern NTG2.5 Comand.

European NTG1 can play DVD and can easily be programmed to play video in motion (with Star). NTG2.5 plays video too but needs a CAN-bus filter to enable VIM. The new head unit fits physically but needs quite a lot of wiring to be changed to work on a W211 that was previously fitted with NTG1 Comand.

The W211 forum is full of info about this mod.

This thread might tell which COMAND SW release is the last one enabling engineering menu:
http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...s-command.html

but I would not recommend that compromise. Better to have the latest COMAND SW with all the important bug fixes and then use Star diagnosis to enable VIM, if that is what you want.
