Stupid battery light

Well, a couple months ago I had a that big red ball of death battery light. I replaced both batteries because they were due and the shop replaced some sort of relay off of the front battery. No today I stop at the store and get back in my 2005 E and there it is again. I have no idea how much it is going to cost me this time but I am quite sick of stupid battery related issues.

Wouldn't the Mercedes parts warranty still cover the replacement batteries?

Well, I'm not even aware of a parts warranty as it is a 2005 with 80k miles on it. The work was done at a local shop here in SoCal so I highly doubt it. I really doubt it has anything to do with the battery and more likely some sort of mystery part that has failed. I just hope he can fix it so I don't have to drive one of his old gas sucking E's he has for loaners on the lot when I get back in town monday.

If your local shop bought genuine MB batteries from a dealer's parts department as your replacements, those should come with a parts warranty, regardless of the age of the car into which they are installed. Ask your indy shop guy where he got the batteries, if his diagnosis traces back to them. If he used aftermarket batteries from somewhere else, you may want to have a "chat" with him about those and why he selected them.

All batteries are covered if they bought new, no matter if you buy it from a dealer, Autozone, Pep Boys, Napa or any such store. Napa for example gives you 5 year replacement warranty on all its batteries.
The same rule applies to other parts, but in many cases it is limited to 1/year or 10k miles.
