First Claybar done... result photos...
I signed up for a recent daily deal for a claybar wash/wax, something I had been wanting to do for a while now. The detailer was not up to my total expectations, but after spending another few hours on it myself, I think it came out pretty shiny.

It must be nice to live in a state where you can get away with a black dd. I have enough trouble keeping my black summer car clean, and eliminated black from the list when I was shopping for my MB, which is pewter. Nothing looks better when it's clean; nothing looks dirty faster. Yours looks great.

soo... tell me how I can do this myself or how much it would cost to get done? Also.. can someone explain what the "clay bar " is and any pertinent information?

I have used clay bar on many cars, it is an easy process. I usually wash the car, rinse and then soap it up again (the soap acts as a lubricant for the clay bar). All clay bars come with a spray lubricant. No matter which you use, lubricant is a must or you can scratch the car. I do large sections (roof, hood, trunk, etc) then rinse. I also do the windshield to get all of the grease and grime off of it that may not come off in a normal wash. Claybar does remove wax.
I have used many claybars but find that Mothers and Blackfire get good results, some claybars can come apart or disolve with use, and some get very sticky.
Of course claybaring your car is the first important step in detailing and if the car has swirl marks they must be removed before waxing. Have fun with it and enjoy. The outcome will make you feel better, because of the sense of accomplishment, never mind the high shine.
