I got a great deal on a pair of mint OEM base carriers for my W211 Wagon. The front carrier clamps perfectly tight, but the rear one remains a tad loose, even though the clamps are at their hard stops. If both were only that tight, I certainly would not want to put anything on the roof

Is this normal? Where exactly should the carriers be installed, lengthwise? I am planning to transport kayaks and would prefer not to lose them
