pogo, that's great news and evidence. I won't waste anyones time with proof that my 2 AT&T V60's don't work but since I thinking of switching to Verizon (cdma) could you find out what version of V60 your friend has (how new or old it is). I have iSync on my mac and my AT&T V60's work fine with it but the computer doesn't even see the MB phone and I have True Sync from Motorla for the PC and it sees both/all V60's. Go figure!!!!

From what i understand, the phone interface for the new e class is fussy about what version of firmware is running on the mobile. Either have this updated, or get your dealer to change the version on the cars phone interface. My dealer said this is an ongoing issue for them, keeping up with compatibility for updates on the mobile phones.
As an overall comment, based on what I have seen on this board, US service depts do not seem very proactive and customer service oriented. Where the dealers in the US seem to give the blanket answer of "it can't be done", my local (MB Corporate owned by the way) dealer says, leave the car with us, we'll work out how to do it. On a number of occaisions they have contacted Germany directly to get the right answers.

I can't argue with the pictures. I think MBPRINCE solved this dilema. The non-MB phone has to have the same software protocol as the MB phone. Who's to say that some of these phones were actually distributed to retailers (Non MB), and would therefore work in your car. If it's worth the trouble have someone check the software version in the Non MB phone and if it matches the MB phone we should be able to purchase outside of the MB retail monopoly and save some money. Also, the V60i tri-band color screen phone works if the software matches MB's protocol. The V60i is enhanced and works better with the W211.

Dealers are liquidating the remaining inventory of V60's and phasing in the V60i. It depends on the dealers existing stock as to what phone you get. However, if you are taking delivery or purchasing the phone kit from a dealer you should ask for the V60i in lieu of the V60. It's dealers discretion if they will give you the V60i if he has remaining V60's. Since most people aren't of aware of MBWorld, they don't have a clue that the new phone is being phased in. By having knowledge of it I would bet the dealer would give you the new phone. If not raise a stink and demand it.
FYI: Voice activation modules are now available.
Part #BQ6820827 COST $480.00plus tax, plus installation at 1.5 hours. Works with any W211.
