Are there any things that the new BMW 5 Series has that the Mercedes-Benz E-Class does not?

Also:

1. Active Steering
2. Active Roll Stabilization (ASR), BMW's answer to MB's ABC,
which is not available on any E.
3. Run Flat Tires
4. Pressure Monitoring System (available on E?)
5. Adaptive Xeons

Lets be honest, the E is a great car, but it's lacking in standard equipment, especially the 320. The following are not standard of the E320: full leather interior, airmatic suspension, 4-zone auto air or cd player.

On the other hand, items 1-4 require the purchase of the sports package.

One aspect in which the E clearly wins out, at least against the current version of the 5 series, is the trunk. I looked at the 5 series, and aesthetically I thought they looked a lot better from the front than from the back, but beyond aesthetics was the fact that I didn't think that they had the room to carry gear that I take with me from time to time. The E series trunk is wonderful, and the fold-down rear seat option has also come in handy, even though I tend to cringe when I use the car to haul stuff around. I believe that the new series 5 will be an improvement trunk-wise, if you can stand the looks.

the new 5 has optional heated rear seats. didn't see anything about cooling seats though.

for 60k, the e should have heated/cooling front and rear seats standard. accords have heated front seats for 26k.

That must be standard on the "lower-end" models, because there is also a fully-electronic temperture control aswell.

hmmm....

A single CD player is now standard on all mercedes E classes and heated rear seats are also available but only in europe :P

Only 2 and a half months left now till our's arrives. salesman called today as well saying if i would like to make any changes then i have till wednesday to do so and after that the order will be sent to germany CANT WAIT!!!

Abt the 5er Vs. E class.....I prefer the E class! bmw's ride might be better but the E class ride is almost as good now! so looks wise.....E class wins it by a mile (exterior and interior) and ride wise bmw only wins marginally......The E class is said to have better refinement and supposed to be better on the A roads....and in a recent top gear magazine they concluded that both cars are great and in the end it comes down to personal choice.....lolz.....i wonder which one i would choose

Two things they said about the BMW 5er was that they said the bmw's body doesnt look well panelled up together.....compared to the E class (A very big improvement by MB) and that there were some cheap plastics!
Oh yeah.....another thing.....lolz....in one of the pics in the top gear magazine review the caption read something like this "Bmw is a great drivers car, but the merc is such a good drive too.....and doesnt look like its boot is open all the time!!!!! :P AND i looked at the picture again and i was like OMG!!! thts sooo tru!!! lolz. So wht im gonna is.......tht wheneva i see a new 5 er im gonna say to the driver "Excuse me mate.....ur boots open" lolz

the new 5 is one of the most ugliest specimens ever created.

the front looks like a cross between a pontiac and a lexus ES300

the back looks like a cross between a wrx and hyundai.

come on!!!!

what are we comparing here? look at the above pic and tell me what you would choose!

2000 E-class
The new % series is much better in all side except the exterior design, especially, the back. I like the new 5 series interior and its technology. I spent 60 000 on my E and I get the small screen for radio, and in 5, I guess you get bigger screen with that much money.
