HELP!!! NON-MB EXTENDED Warranty Details
Hi, I need some help and guidance in picking the NON-MB EXTENDED Warranty from EFG Companies (http://www.efgcompanies.com/index.html). Anybody knows this company? They are providing coverage for all EXCEPT standard industry Exclusions ( Please see attached).

Maxi, thanks for taking the time and looking over the coverage options. I appreciate helping me out. I have zero knowledge in this regard.
I am was not sure and that was the reason I posted to find out if others have seen such coverage and does it make sense to proceed?

I understand no coverage for exhaust or lenses. Windows or breakers.
But it doesn't cover suspension. It looks like only engine w/o exhaust, electrical and fuel supply is covered and AT.

John, feel free to email me your VIN# and current odometer reading. I can get you a quote on an excellent warranty, recommended by MB World members that have gotten it from me.
I can also give you my opinion on the other ones you're you're considering via email.
Thanks.

My suggestion: Put $5K in a savings account. There aren't too many repairs that would exceed this amount. If you did encounter an expensive repair, . . .check the independent shops for a good deal. If you don't, then you have $5K in the bank to spend on another car when you're ready to trade.

No kidding!
Before I would put $5,000 into an extended warranty on a car that is worth, maybe, $20,000, I would very seriously consider whether I want to keep a car that I fear is going to have that much go wrong with it.
I have had a 1992 LS400 since 1993 and have put, at most, $1,500 into it in all that time, including oil and tire changes.
If I feared the my 2006 E320 CDI is going to need $5,000 in repairs by 100,000 miles, I would dump that sucker , now, in a hearbeat. That would mean I thought MB engineers were grossly incompetent.

That being said... be sure the warranty you select will give to you more than just coverage that keeps the car functioning as a means of transportation only. If all it does is pay for the car's ability to get you from one place to another without regard to any of the creature comforts, or options that make the car what it is... an elegant Luxury Car with expensive options, pass on that particular warranty. Anybody can patch a car up to keep it rolling, but if you came up with a $9,000 bill for a transmission, and you paid or financed a lot more for the car, could you easilly pay the 9 Grand to save your investment? Would you still love the car or would you feel poisoned?
Personally, I'd look for the most inclusive warranty I could find and figure it as the cost of owning a 211... or I'd pass on the car and drive something a little more "wallet friendly" to drive.

I just bought a 4 year/48K mile 3d-party extended warranty from the dealer for my '08 E350 with 42K miles. It cost me $3K with a $200/visit deductible. It's exclusionary and covers everything except some of the emissions pieces which I believe are covered for 80K or so by federal mandate anyway. I exchanged emails with Bruce and he was very helpful, low pressure, and had a good product, but I decided to stay local, in part to maintain the relationship with my local dealer who so far has been exceptional. I made sure the warranty covered the electronic bells & whistles, not just the basic drivetrain, which is pretty bulletproof in modern cars. My primary reason for buying the warranty was peace of mind; I sleep better. I plan to keep the car for at least another 3-4 years; I have two friends with MBs and they both advised me to get the extended warranty because of the service cost (their cars have been basically reliable, but any trip to the dealer for a minor issue was a $1000 bill); and if I decide to sell the car in three years or so, the warranty will be a big selling point. Also, and this may or may not be true considering the source, the finance director at the dealership told me they analyze the warranty programs annually, and this program paid out $2 for every $1 in premium to their dealership last year. MB is one of the few cars for which this is the case. One entry on the impeccably reliable web says that, although warranties are profitable for the issuers for all cars, including MBs, MBs are more likely than others (38%) to require service in excess of the cost of the warranty. The odds are in your favor but, as I said, I paid for peace of mind.

I believe the MaxCare Chrysler extended warranty can still be purchased for E-class M-Bs. I bought a MaxCare warranty for my '06 SL from this out-of-state source via phone and online, and the price/coverage was superb:
www.extended-warranty-pro.com
I've had a couple of warranty claims so far, and all were covered with no hassles. Unfortunately, SL models are no longer eligible for this ext warranty program.

As a USAA/Penfed customer:

This is supposed to be a great warranty.
