Brake wear sensors for my 2005 E500 Sedan.

After looking on EPCnet it looks as though I have three wear senors on my car, but my question is. Are they all the same senors just with different part numbers? I ordered some rotors and pads off the net, but I'm going to Oreily to get some new senors. I may not even need them, but I want them to be on hand just in case I need them since Eurosports garage is allowing me to supply my own parts. My E-500 is at 100k, and we actually went to trade it in for a 2010/11 this last weekend, but couldn't find a used preowned certified with a P2 package. My wife decided to keep driving ours until we find one. Our brake wear light is on so I need to get the brakes fixed as cheaply as possible.
It shows I need 2115400717 and 2115401717 senors. Are these really the same senors? If not ..What's the difference.

Thanks

The rear and front passenger sensor has a oval plug while the driver has a oval with more square corners plug, but diffently different in shape.

Does anyone know the size of the hex bolt to remove the rotor off a 2005 e500? Meaning the size of socket I need to remove it.

Thanks.

Funny, EPC provides 2 different part #s, but if you look on parts.com, they indicate that the front driver plug (2115400717) has been superceded by the same part #s for the passenger sides (2115401717).

MY03-05 equipped with 2 front sensors left 0717 (50% wear) / right 1717 (100%), rear right 1717 (100%) MB eliminated left sensor from series production MY06 reason for parts.com noting 1717 replaces 0717 as it concerns front.

The 50% sensor was eliminated due to interference with AM radio stations on all 211's. Any 211 no matter the year, would have the 50% sensor removed at brake service. There is a DTB regarding this. US market 211's will only have brake wear sensors on the right side.

P-B-82.62/499 - upon customer complaint of AM interference

If DIY, your choice to replace 0717 (available @ autohausaz.com) if you decide not to replace go ahead and cut wiring but connector must remain plugged into harness. Furthermore, due to removal computer may instruct “check brake linings” at future maintenance even if linings are new - so it reads.

So it probably better to leave it on if it can leave a meassage? I've complained to the dealership for years about how crappy AM is on my radio. They never once mentioned anything about this. They always blamed it on my tint. I wonder if it could affect FM in anyway? Lately my FM has been a bit scratchy.

It only effects AM due to the location of the AM antena.

I've decided to change my own pads and disc myself. Front and rear. I've pretty much figured out the SBC issue and the wear sensors, but i'm a bit concerned about the rear dics with the emergency brake. Am I going to run into any problems here? When I top the brake fluid off what type of fluid should I use? Dot 4 or Super Dot 4. Any onther suggestions or hints will be greatly appreciated. I've done of few brake jobs, but never on this car.

So does the dealer still replace the sensor or do they simply not install it? or do they cut the wiring? If they don't install it, is there something in SDS that is switched off? If the wire is cut, are you saying that the "check brake linings" warning comes on? I know when I was checking the sensor and removed it from the brake caliper, I got the "check brake linings" warning. Just trying to understand why cutting the wire would not cause the warning to come up. Thanks!

If you cut the wiring after this you must connect both wires to close the circuit and you will be ok (no warning messages).

OK, I didn't realize or recall seeing two wires, but that makes sense now. Thanks.
