E500 engine at idle............
my car has been perfect since day one and still is ........ but, at idle, it doesn't have a smooth sound. It's like one valve or something is louder than the rest so I hear something other than smooth ...... can't explain it any better. Anyone notice something similar??

Do you get this, for lack of better description, "slight jitter" (vibration) during idle? It's very minimal you have to really feel for it.
Goes something like this: Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm-tug/tug-Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm-tug/tug, and so on.
Shouldn't it be just Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...and no tug/tug in between?
Yes, I did have some time on my hands tonight-I was in the car for a while reading my manual.

no ..... this is (just went out to listen) a tick, softer at first but louder when the motor is warmed up, like a valve or lifter that may not be pumping up. Don't think it's anything major but still noticeable.

is it the mounting problem? because almost everybody in this forum has mounting problem. probably if you go back the thread that somewhere in february you'll see it though

The engine mounts are hydraulic, according to my tech. My mounts made my car sound like a muted diesel. You could hear this repetitive ticking sound inside the car which increased in frequency with increased throttle input. You could even hear the ticking at idle. It really was quite annoying, especially for a car of this "caliber" (meaning PRICE!
).My mounts were replaced under warranty in about 3-4 days at the dealer and the car has been perfect since. No more tick, tick, ticking... just a smooth rush of power!

thanks for the info ............ I think my car was an April or May build, but the problem does sound like what you describe in the motor mount thread. I'll have it checked out.
