Command II DVD Navigation for 03 Es has arrived
I will post picks today or tomorrow. First impression, its is wonderful. Easy to pick destinations, rich in options, voice prompts sound really nice (female voice) and precise. There is a button for SAT radio (supposed to be Sirus), but sales man said SAT radio will be available in the MY04 (he thinks retrofitable to the MY03). Screen is a rectangle and split. Entering a destination is significantly better than Command I. That is, there is an alphabet that can be scrolled (up/down/right/left) to any letter/number combination. The system response is 3-4 times faster than Command I navi. I am going out to take pics, and go for a ride to see how this system performs.

That's great news DRB. Can't wait for my replacement car in the 3rd decade of July. Too bad about the SAT radio. I'm sure it will be retofit in 2004! Seems like we've heard that one before.
Let us know how easy it is to enter a location into the Command, how many locations can be saved, and can one ask for the nearest gas station or place to eat? Also since you live in NoVA, how was the personal property tax handled with the replacement car? Did you just transfer the sticker? If you have an extended warranty, did it start over with the replacement car? Sorry for all the Q's.
Congrats and thanks for the report.

2003 E-500
Congratulations on getting the first new Nav in a 2003 and look forward to seeing your pictures and answers to other querys by board members.
I spoke with my dealer today, and he advised they haven't made any of the 2003 E-500's as yet and thought there may be some type of parts problem. However, I don't see why the parts for the E-500 would be any different than those used in the E-320.
Has anyone else heard of a possible delay in the builds of the '03 replacement E-500's for those of us that ordered the Nav/Comand system?

well, i think it was all of the orders before jan 1st. if you want one, i would just get a alpine, and get some custom place to install it, it would look nice, and im sure alpine navs are nicer than the MB ones. but yea, thats how the swap works
