Ran Over An Open Manhole
I was making a turn onto the I-10 freeway and ran over a manhole without a cover. Speed was about 30 MPH and loud noise on the left tire as it went over it... No damage to tire or rim. The car is driving fine.
What surprised me was immediately after the impact, my power door locks unlocked.
The next day, I changed the tires to General G-Max AS-03 - was previously scheduled, not due to the impact.
Should I be worried? I am about 4,000 miles from Service C and planned to wait.
Thoughts?
Thank you.

No tire or wheel damage - no airbags deployed - drives fine? - I think you are lucky and have nothing to worry about!

Thank you!
I think I was lucky. I drove by the same hole a few days ago and the thing is the size of a large pizza. Houston is such a mess.

I suspect I was going fast enough so I was lucky.
When they installed the new tires, they checked everything. I will check on the lawyer comment after I round up a few digital pictures of the hole (play frogger given how busy the intersection is). Someone is probably selling the cover as scrap - what a mess the world has become.

You guys should be happy the City would give something, if at all...we would be laughed at and thrown out with a warning to never return. Your roads are like silk compared to what we "drive" on!

Typically IF the city has been previously notified and taken NO action you might be able to file a claim for damages. BE SURE TO CHECK FOR RIM CRACKS with the tires off. Also do RUN OUT check for wobble and out of round.

Nine months to approve/print/mail a check. Wow.
I think that should be considered willful neglect and heads should be rolling. I mean how collectively lazy must they be to let that claim gather dust for months...
And btw OP, you are so lucky. I just visited my dealership for at least the 6th or 7th time for a flat tire over 70,000 miles. They tried to charge me $360... I have the Safeguard tire insurance and they adjusted it to $320, I guess that's the most the insurance will pay. (The crazy part is I paid around $750 for the insurance when purchasing the car new. They've lost over a $1,000, at the least, on my policy alone.)

Honestly, at a certain point you can't even call it inefficiency.
