pic request: w211 with various AMG wheels
I'm trying to decide on a set of wheels for my e500, but am having trouble. I'm wondering if those of you with various AMG wheel styles can post up pictures of them on your car. I'm definitely going 18", and have found a few on ebay that I like from various AMG cars and even a couple HRE replicas.
Thanks in advance!
First ones are CLS550 AMG Package wheels. Second are E55 AMG wheels. and Third are SL550 AMG package wheels
I have the First picture wheels still but with snow tires. If you want wheels only, $1000.

DAMN those would look good on my silver 211. Only thing is I bet those are staggered, I'd have to find a non-staggered set of 18x8.5 to make that work (4matic)
well, i mean it is doable. The only problem is you have to make sure the diameters are damn near exact (less than 1% difference). Meaning a 245/40 up front and a 255/35 or 255/30 out back (i forget exactly, 1010tires.com has a calculator). Even then it's kinda sketchy. And it won't just take out the trans, it'll take out the transfer case too
Correct. As long as front and rear diameters are the same or close (within 1/10 of an inch), then width does not matter.
For example, stock 4matic size of 245/40-18 is 25.72". So to comply with 4matic, rear staggered size could be 275/35-18 (at 25.58", a bit more than 1/10" less) or 285/35-18 (at 25.85", a bit more than 1/10" more) - both not identical, but close enough.
Once you get to 19" or 20" wheels, then sizes become 245/35-19 & 285/30-19 (these are basically identical at 25.75" & 25.73" respectively) or 245/30-20 & 285/25-20 (235/35-20 & 275/30-20 are identical at just under 26.5" and can be used on stock W211 too).
To put it simply, for W211 4matic (same for W212 4matic as well) rear staggered tire needs to be 40mm wider than front (add 40 to first number) while aspect ratio needs to be "1 size" lower than front (subtract 5 from the second number).
