Sub-forums in W211 section??

Hey everyone,

I sent the MBWorld owners a message asking if they had considered sub-forums within each vehicle forum. I rec'd a response asking to try to identify a particular forum to see if it would work.

Perhaps this question has been asked and it is not wanted or not possible but I thought I'd give it a shot.

Some ideas for sub-forums could be:

- Audio/Visual/Nav
- Interior/Exterior/Lighting Mods
- Wheels/Tires/Suspension/Brakes
- Engine/Performance (Intake/Exhaust/ECU tuning, etc.)
- Troubleshooting/Problems/Service (discuss problems encountered and fixes)
- How-to/DIY

There could certainly be better groupings and/or areas of interest that I am missing - share your ideas if interested.

The idea of sub-forums is to better organize the forum and help when searching posts. It can also lessen the need for stickies on the main page -- you can certainly have them in each sub-forum as well. Existing posts would eventually be re-directed/moved into the sub-forums. New posts would have the option to be posted on the main (general discussion) page or in a sub-forum. Mods can move as required, i.e., someone posted about an exhaust system in the A/V sub-forum.

EDIT: For those voting PERHAPS, NEED MORE INFO, please share what that info may be so we can address it.

I've limited the time on this poll to two weeks.

Are you suggesting different areas for the 2003-2006 w211 and then the 2007-2009 w211?

Why? Because this will only complicate the process of finding what is new in the forum, confuse members that have become accustomed to the current layout over the last 11 years and create weeks of work for the already busy admins.

When we split "Politics and Religion" into a sub forum in OT, it killed traffic and posts. People don't like to have to keep digging to see new posts.

That's why.

But, please, if there are better reasons in favor, let us know.

This is ridiculous. There are already in excess of 75 sub-forums on this board. If we did this, we would have to do a separate sub-forum on EVERY MODEL. That would put us to how many? That would not only clutter the board, but it would make it increasingly difficult to find things.

Specialized sub-forums like the OP is suggesting ONLY work on car forums that are dedicated to a single car. This is a forum dedicated to an entire car brand.

True. But I don't think splitting up the w211 forums by pr-facelift and facelift is a bad idea..

Really? ALL of the MB's go through facelifts. There are substantial changes to the cars, but overall, it's still the same chassis and still the same items. There is no need to split all these forums just because of a facelift. Unless the chassis code is different, they need to stay together.
