"Brake"
I recently purchased a 2003 E320 with 60000 miles on the car. Last night a red light came on the console with the word "BRAKE" and it stated that there will be longing stopping time... Called MB and they told me do not drive the vehicle and have it towed to them. I had an over all check of the vehicle when I bought it in November and the car was fine. Before I spend thousands of dollars on this car is it the brakes, a fuse, a short??? Did this ever happen to anyone and does anyone know what this is going to run me. Can I take it to a regular mechanic? Please provide me with any information you can. Thank you.

Well , it looks like your SBC pump needs replacing, fear not, there is a 10 years Warranty for this issue and you wouldn't need to pay a penny for the job if it turns out to be an SBC-related issue.

this. The SBC systems in the earlier (03-04) 211 cars are a common failing point. Coverage is 10yrs/unlimited miles due to it being a safety issue. Tow it to them, demand a loaner, and there you have it.

They changed warranty so its past 10 years now. I believe you have one free replacement doesn't matter when it fails 10 or 15 yr later. I will double check on this

I had a question concerning the warranty, is it only limited to the US ? Or is it worldwide ?

I would imagine worldwide. Mercedes may put up a fight with certain repairs out of standard warranty, but they don't play around with safety issues.

Well the car was towed to MB and it was not the SBC pump the car needed front and back brakes, rotors and sensors. They want to charge me $800.00 does that seem reasonable?

800 for all 4 corners is VERY cheap. Take that and run with it lol
