Touch up paint?

So I've got some scratches on my rear bumper that I need touch up paint for .. I guess someone pulled forward into my car while parked .. or the valet somewhere did it.

Anyway, I keep finding oddball part numbers for the touch up paint .. so far I've seen a single 040 Black Paint from MB .. a dual 040 Black from MB .. and a "paint pen" from MB. Not sure what I need, but I suspect it's the dual bottles? My detailer is going to do it so I think the dual bottles is the way to go?

Just make sure you get the correct color code -- three digit number. Should be on you data plate under the hood or in the drivers door jam.

They just need your VIN no.

Will supply the correct colour for your car.

Yeah, I know I have 040 Black. Just wanted to buy the touch up paint at parts.com or somewhere cheaper than my local dealer, but I guess I'll head over there and just pay for it.

Try Dr. Color

Touch up paint is very difficult to apply right. 99% of the time, the application is clearly visible and rather unsightly. I recently tried Dr. Color that you see on TV with good success. The result is a lot better than any touch ups I have used. You can order it online.

I, too, have used Dr. Colorchip with good success, but it will not cover large areas - it is mainly intended for chips. Link:

I have also used paint from "Automotive Touchup" for larger areas. Link:

My detailer plans to do this .. he just needs me to get the paint/kit and he'll handle the rest. His work is so good I doubt I'll see anything at all.

Thanks for all the recommendations!

I've seen on line the color code for my 07 color "Granite Gray" listed as 7747 and 747. Were they sourced from different manufacturers or what?

I've tried both....MB touch-up and Dr. Colorchip.

Dr. Colorchip is 10 times better! Have a look at the instruction videos on their site.
