Hey guys. Just bought the car with 272 engine. Now I'm concerned big time. Although the car runs smooth, doesn't eat oil and takes about 11.5 litres of petrol on 100km. It's 2007 year and has 50,000 miles on the clock.

Can you check my engine number please. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks from Ukraine.

Thank you. You've made my day.

I know I probably asking too much and off topic but, is there any chance to find a rough service history of my car. You see, my car arrived from US in 2013 and I don't have any service history of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

2006 E350 CEL on.

I was wondering if my VIN falls within the range. I have replaced all 4 sensors and had the wire harness recall done as well. Thanks in advance.

I am looking seriously at a 2007 MB C280 VIN WDBRF92H57F841556... I am concerned that this falls pretty close to the Shaft Issue vehicles. I've tried looking up the VIN myself but can't seem to get enough detail. My deposit is good for 3 more days before they return it if I don't purchase. Any quick assistance would be much appreciated.

Rick

PS. If this is posted in the wrong location, please forgive me. I can't figure out how to start a new thread/post.

Thank you! I'll hold off on this one despite an otherwise good car and deal.

I have a E350 -05 with engine number 30 055304, so it´s affected. :-(
My car has 117 800 km (73197 miles) on the meter and no symptoms yet.
Do we know if this problem affects ALL cars up to "30 46..." (and it´s just a matter of time before mine gets it) or is it "just" a small percent of these cars that actually get the problem?
Thanks in advance. / Joakim

That sort of depends on who you ask. I am not aware that anyone really knows for sure, and MB will never say. However, I think that the general consensus is that somewhere around 25% (more or less) are affected.

Sorry to hear but as said many times it is a unknown and personally if I had the means too and owned an affected car I would sell it fast or find a powertrain warranty that would cover it till like 150,000 miles. Even if you are a DIY type of guy/gal it is to much for most of us and the down time could be really long which for most people is not a good thing. I almost bought a clk350 awhile back and am so happy that I ended up with the diesel so I can avoid this issue... to bad I have my own issues to worry about lol

07 mb c280
2007 c280 m272

Awhile ago I posted motor had code 16. I'm a mechanic for some time.I noticed motor sounded like a quite diesel in the front of motor on occasion; also while sitting inside vehicle one time while in park and idling with heater on, motor stumbled three different times (possibly cam sensors taking up slack on balance shaft) Talked with MB dealer I dropped vehicle off they checked, and said magnets good. I stated that this feels like the start to the balance shaft issue. They looked further into code 16, found balance gear was worn. They have had vehicle for the past two weeks replacing balance shaft, and necessary components. Should have back tomorrow or Monday. Hopefully this helps the worried as I was one and for good reason.

We have only had car for nine months; I suspect the previous owner had this concern, and traded. Really can not blame him, $4-6k to repair. Luckily the car had the MB certified pre-owned warranty. I searched all information prior to buying vehicle. Even purchased extra two year warranty. I just want to know did the 2009-2010 M272 have same problem?

So we will get car back and repost if noise in front is gone.
