How long will my compressor last if the bearing in the clutch is bad?

Most don't 'have a clutch and are continus running variable displacement compressors. If the bearing is bad change the compressor. If it fails it could blow metal through the system and contaminate the entire system.

Thanks I was going to replace it.. but i didnt know if i shoould get a brand new one or a refurbrished one?
