Not directly comparable but the 7 has great engine, seats, and interior space. Hate the column shifter.

Oh god, please dont! The 745's are one of the ugliest, most confusing cars ever built. Not to mention they're known for tons of electronic gremlins. The interior is just littered with cheap feeling silver colored plastics. Not to mention it uses one of the first gen i-drives...notoriously confusing. I was in a 745 once and tried to adjust the drivers seat, took me at least a minute just to figure out the controls.

Even though this is a MBZ forum, I love BMWS, but the 7 series is problematic. I would recommend only getting one under 50k, around 100k they begin to fall apart painfully. We had a few (car dealership) our customers always complained about lights and faults. The E class is a working horse compared to the 7 series. But the 7 is much more comfortable, quicker, and prestigious, seeing how its a full sized sedan. Of course a well maintained 7 can go further, but like i said their life span is very human (70,000 m is downhill from there), problems will most likely occur.

Why not an 07 or 08 S550? A CPO one would give you some warranty coverage and I think in the long term it will be more reliable.

remember its a 750 as they went to a 4.8L from a 4.4L in 06 i think. that V8 is a great engine. Also I like the way it drives, its more sporty than its competition like the S and A8. However like others have said, the electronic gizmos can be frustrating and expensive. Used 7's are cheap to obtain but consider the long term running cost. If you decide to get one do your due diligence.

Thanks guys for your input. I just wanted a 7 series because I needed a roomier car cuz I have a baby on the way...I never knew it had that many problems. My girl has a BMW 335 coupe and truefully the handling for that car is much better than the E350 in my opinion.
