E320 to E500 worth it?

Hi all, my replacement E320 will come in sometimes the end of July and I have been thinking of exchange to E500 with the same options. My saleman told me that they will take the car back minus 12% and pay the difference of the E500. I am not sure if it is worth it to do this.

I also went to the BMW dealer to test drive the M3. This car is fast and really powerfull. I like it but the bad thing is, interior is not as nice as MB.

Any opions would be very helpful.

E320 brilliant silver/ash leather, E2, E3, Parktronics, Rear shaded, DVD navigation, 7years/100K.

Thumbs up

After driving BMW 6 cyl cars for 20 years I did a comparison between the 6 and 8cyl in the Benz. My feeling was for the difference in dollars the E500 was worth it. Both cars are great but the E500 brings in the suspension and extra power that trust me is outstanding. If you plan on keeping this car then haggle with the sales manager.............they will have a better chance of moving the E320 anyways.

Derek.

If you going to do some modification to your car, I'll suggest keep the E320. If not then go for E500. E500 much better handling of course and V8 is just really good engine.

Given the extra level of standard equipment on the 500 over the 320, the difference in price is not that much. Especially if you were considering the sports package. But, the dealer would be more willing to work on price with a 320, though. 500 is a lot more rare than a 320.

I have owned two E-320's (great cars) and recently ordered a 2004 E-500 AWD. It's worth the extra dollars. It took me a few months to make my decision, but with the help of this forum I am happy with my choice . The only problem is I won't see the car unitl November .

I think you answered your own question. You drove the M3 and liked the performance aspect of it. But not the interior. I agree, and think the E500 gives you the best of both worlds. I had 2 previous generation E320's before getting a E430 in '00. The difference is mostly notable at passing speeds. From 60-80 mph the difference is huge. Get it. If you are buying it and not leasing, not even a question.

I love the power of the E500. I highly recommend it. Once you go 500 you won't go back.

I agree that the E500 is very much worth the extra money; the extra power & torque, airmatic suspension are things you don't want to be without! Go for it.

Having driven my car at full tilt to 130 MPH (and getting there real quick) plus manuevering through traffic as smooth as silk my vote would be the 500. If you are even considering it then if you get the 320 you will always second guess yourself.

Just another comment: the M3 is the greatest sports car/sedan out there. A little overpriced, but considering what the car can do..... fugetaboudid! The M3 rules with an iron fist!

MB-E series is a beautiful car and drives well, however, it is not that outstanding. I now have 7,500 miles on my car and it is gorgeous, but not the best handling car in the world. I have the sports package, but I feel like it's more package than sport.

And gregg, no doubt, that is why MB has decided to now call the Sports package the Appearance package.

IS THAT A FACT???? Appearance package is definitely more like it.. although, it is not that different. Very disappointed with the lack of exhaust chrome tips on the E series.
