What kind of a car is this?

So I had gone out with this girl several times and we were driving for lunch on Sunday and she asked me the most curious question:

"What kind of a car is this?"

...with the Mercedes hood ornament right in front of her I'm a car nut so the question shocked me a little bit, especially because she's very smart. Just goes to show how clueless some women are about cars... On the plus side I rather like the fact that she could not care less... So I definitely know she's not with me because I drive a Mercedes and that is a good thing

Slightly different version of the same problem:

When we first brought home our '06 E500 wagon (bought used, in 2009), my wife (now approaching our 45th anniversary) shocked me by saying "this is the first car we've had that I'm really proud of." This is the woman who had as her daily driver and kid hauler, from 1976 through 1980, a '66 Maserati Quattroporte, but of course, it wore tridents, not 3 pointed stars, and it did have a small dent and other minor issues when we acquired it.

She might have also been asking "which model Mercedes is this?" ...so she would know whether it was a 320, 350 or a 550!
