E270CDI Engine Transplant?
Hi there,
I have a 2004 E270CDI and it's been in the wars recently. We have had some issues with injectors, heads and rocker covers.
I have found a place where i can purchase secondhand motors with much lower milage for almost the price of purchasing a new head/valve cover and injectors.
However, i was wondering if I was able to install a E320CDI engine or the updates E280CDI motor instead of the old 270.
Car isn't worth much here as it's done over 325,000kms and its a 2004 model.
I don't really want comments about how it would be cheaper to purchase a new car... we it wouldn't be here in Australia.
What parts would need to be switched if i was to update to the larger capacity motor.
At the moment my tranny is in fine condition and has no issues.

I think you may have some issues with electonics -- ECU, TCM, etc. The E270 is a 5 cylinder I think? May require some expensive mods to get the a 3.2 or 2.8 liter mate with the current accessory equipment -- PS pump, radiator, alternator, Air cleaner, etc.
I would look for another 2.7 liter that is a exact replacement.
