W210 E220 2003 Using mechanical key to unlock trunk/boot
No doubt this is in the manual somewhere but for me the manual was in the boot when I needed to open the boot with the mechanical key.
SUMMARY:
1. Turn key anti-clockwise to position 1
2. Push lever forward if not already forward
3. Turn key to anticlockwise to position 2
4. Pull lever back, the boot should open.
DETAIL:
1. The lock position is below the Mercedes emblem and above the
number plate
You will need to get low and look up. The boot release lever is to
the right of this, again looking up.
Insert the key, it will turn both clockwise and anti-clockwise
Turn the key to the anti-clockwise, it will go only so far, position 1.
2. Now for the boot release lever, on mine this seemed to
float, there was no spring to keep to in a specific position.
If the lever is like mine then you will need to push it forward.
This might be tricky if the lever is stiff, it looks like a box turned
upside down and recessed into the boot. If you need to push it
forward you will need to get your fingers or screwdrvier between
the edge of the box/lever and the boot lid.
3. Once the box/lever is forward turn the key anti-clockwise, it will now
go further to position 2.
4. Now pull the release lever back, it should engage solidly and open the
boot.
