Cost of owning a used E-500...
Doing some rough numbers I am looking at $1.55 per mile for my e-bay special 2004 wagon including maintenance, repairs and insurance as well as loss of value.
Also looked at leasing a new ML 350 Diesel and got the same numbers:
$1.55 per mile..![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Smile per mile however is not included and priceless..![Stick Out Tongue](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Soo, ya guys got better numbers or am I in the ballpark?
(In the mood for car shopping right now..Going from a Ford F-250 Diesel pick-up to a Chevy Volt and back: Looking at the big picture and hoping to fall in love with a good car: Audi Diesel Wagon, Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel, Ford Focus Electric hatchback, whatever, no sedan, no guzzler)

For 90+% of owners, depreciation is by far the biggest cost of auto ownership. The newer and more expensive the vehicle, the larger the depreciation. Diesels are not immune to this economic reality.
So, you may want to prioritize your "wants" and your "needs"...always a difficult challenge for most of us.

And they get almost twice the milage of the old -500: Running around on small trips all day today I got 8 mpg, not good.
At any rate, the numbers I posted yesterday at $1.55 per mile may not be very accurate: I was slightly under the influence when I did the calculation and forgot a few factors, will try harder..
