The TPS on my 99 Corvette is origional. There is a Lipoly battery to power it with about a 7 yr life so I expect failures on the sensors after 11 yrs. It is amazing tire co's find another way to dig $$. UMM nitrogen is so much better, balance,, road hazard, valve stems,, did you want us to put the tires back on,, in the same place. Dig DIg. Why not just try something creative like, Bla Bla tire.. $@@@ installed drive out price, vs putting it up as $99 special and oh by the way $50 addon's bring it to..

Tire stores are notorious for this nonsense.
Did the store tell you why you supposedly need new tire pressure sensors? If you didn't have tire warning light before, you don't need new sensors now. Unless of course they broke one. I probably replace a couple of sensors a week due to tire stores breaking them.
I have not had the tires installed yet. Waiting for them to arrive. On the invoice I notived the TPMS valve stem. However...as far as I know...I do not have TPMS at all. No dash light and no option to recalibrate on the menu. I never thought abought TPMS before now and assumed I do not have that option. Is TPMS standard and I just never knew it was there?
2006 vehicles it was not required, but was available as an option. Two ways to confirm, if you have solid metal valve stems that is the first hint, rubber stems means no TPMS, or call the dealer with your VIN to find out. Tire shops are supposed to change the service kit (nut & rubber washer) when they change your tires. The rubber gets old and cracks and may cause leaks. However the service kit cost a lot more than just an old fashioned rubber valve stem.
