Question Removing Chrome Headlight Rings

I'm wanting to remove my chrome headlight rings but they are stuck on pretty good. Any ideas how to get them off without destroying them (or something else)?

Thumbs up

Try using a heat gun or hair dryer to get the first area lifted....I have then used a small jewelers screwdriver to get under the section and then either use thick dental floss as mentioned or string to slide under the lift the adhesive. I cleaned my lense afterwards with goof off.

Hope you have a easy time of it.

Derek.

GOO GONE. Get some GOO GONE, and then use dental floss and work your way down breaking down the glue.

May I ask why you guys are taking the chrome rings off? Any problems with the rings, or just getting tired of chrome?

Thanks.

Just tired of big chrome. The ones on the 02's and before were smaller.

It seems like the gap between the hood and lights on my first E500 were narrower than on the repalcement car so i was thinking about getting the chrome rings. Now I'm not sure. How much were they and do they really stand out that much? Comments?

I'd like to see the difference between your first car and your replacement. Do you have any pics. Here's a pic of my headlight rings before I took them off. I think I paid $90 for them.

Sorry it's a bad pic I was taking pics of lightbulb replacements.

Here is a pic of my original E500. I don't think you'll be able to tell much from it. I'll have to take one of the replacement car.
