Go to oilchangekits.com, they will fix you up with the right oil and the right filter and ship it right to your door.

Oil Types

I've read many threads on this and my opinon is that you should always change your oil. There are many oil types out there and many manufacturers of oil. Mercedes has a whole listing of oil that can be used. You can find it in WIS.

So when I first purchased my 2003 E320 I had the stealership do a "Service B" and when I looked at what type of oil they put in they didn't put in the MB oil but Mobil 1 5W40.

I live in Northern California where the temperature stays pretty much in the mid-range between 30 and 100 degrees. So the 5W40 will work in that temperature range.

I figure if it's good enough for the Stealership then it's good enough for me.

You might want to have the Stealership do it once and have them do a service and at the same time to make sure that everything is working correctly. Then observe the service sheet and see what type of oil they used.

You can also save money on oil changes if you choose to do them yourself. But be sure to not neglect all of the other checks that need to be done at appropriate mileages.

Here's a good link for DIY oil changes. This guy Check Codes did his homework and provides good directions.

Good Luck and happy motoring!!!

I use a topsider and change oil from the top. I have been doing this for 60,000 miles now and have 123,000 on the car no issues. Oil change total time is about 25 minutes no jacking the car. Easiest oil change I have ever done. Almost white glove change. I also run the FSS and do all the other checks.

I second the opinion of vettdvr for topside extraction. It's much easier and cleaner, plus you don't have to worry about bolt and washer leaks. I've always used 0w-40 and Mann filters.
