Where can I get muy hands on getting these 2 updated? Not saying I will not pay for the upgrades, but Id rather save a few dollars and see if there is anyway I can do this without spending a fortune...
I would also like to know how I figure out what firmare or version I have to begin with...
Could you first tell the model year of your car (which COMAND version does it have)?
You might find what you are after if you search for COMAND instead of COMMAND (although sometimes I feel the incorrect spelling is used more than the correct one).

Yes My apologies... It is a 2003 E500... I cannot tell which version of anything it is.. I am a new Mercedes owner and I love it so far. Just need it updated. I just got the motor mounts replaced and now it seems I need a new Catalytic converter and a new rear air strut...So I dont need to spend so much money on things like updates. ANy help at all would be greatly appreciated. The DEALER said it would require 3 hours of work plus cost of discs just to update software... I was like yea, no
It is NTG1 then. The Navi processor firmware will be updated along with a new Maps DVD (if any update is needed). The COMAND head unit update you can download from MB, at least for Euro cars. http://service-parts.mercedes-benz.c...on?pageId=4795

Well thank you for that.... Hopefully it works... Now where can I get the NAVI Maps update from?
Well great news fellow friends of MBWorld... I have an updated COMAND and the latest NAVI-DVD Maps... thank you all for your support and the time in reading my posts
Jsyk, the air struts can be bought aftermarket for much cheaper than MB OE. The cat is prob a generic part you can purchase too. I would go shopping if you're trying to get things done "on the cheap." However, OE parts are the way to go if you want this car to run for another 10 years. These cars will work forever if you run MB parts and keep up with service.

I want to agree with you 100% but I feel that is a bit off... The engine mounts and suspension for this particular model have been nothing shy but horrible... A few after market products have been proven better than the OEM... like the Arnott Air Struts. They are less expensive and longer lasting AND comes with a great warranty. This is my first Mercedes and I love it... I am actually getting a new Drivers Side Catalytic converter replaced as we speak... Mercedes sells it for 1500 if I am not mistaken, but Eastern sells an incredible product for 5X less... I'd rather save that kind of money and spend it on the kind of high end merchandise the car will need that will be expensive... Plugs, wires, compressors, filters, tires, brakes, etc....
I'll be honest, I meant no disrespect to the amazing things everyone says about Arnott, and my comment was related to a replacement cat and the car in general. I didn't know about the cat's you're talking about, and just meant in general that if you get OE parts your car will work great. However, I again want to stress that Arnott's products are reviewed by everyone as superior to the MB parts, and that there may be equivalent parts out there that are superior to MB. All I was trying to say is that MB's parts will keep your car going pretty much forever.
