Finally got my E320 Sport! One Question though

Hi everyone -- I've been posting for about a month now, and last Saturday I finally closed the deal on a new 03 E320 Sport, with E2 and the factory installed CD changer. If anyone is looking for a good deal on an awesome car, give Andre Voglezon a call at Mercedes Benz Long Beach!

I have a question, however, about the Sport Package. When I got the car home I noticed that in the 03 Brochure the interior shot of the E320 shows the A/C Temp Bezzles in Ivory, and the top of the shifter in the Black Birdseye Maple.

In my Sport, the A/C Temp Bezzles are just the regular black, and the top of the shifter is silver (like the gearshift surround) and has the word "SPORT" on it.

Why is my car different than what is in the brochure? Could it be build date, etc?

Also, (I know I only said one question, but bear with me, I'm new!), should I be aware of any issues that may or may not have been addressed before delivery? Like the sound system intermittently failing, or the alignment issues I've read about on this board? I've noticed that my steering wheel is not straight when the car is going straight, and if I make it straight the car will pull left....

Thanks in advance, and I love my car!

about the sport package, i think they changed it a little after they made the brochure, so that should be right.

Lakerholic,

First off, congrats on your new E.

I have the Sports Package also and have the same coloring on the knobs (black) and gear shift (silver metal) as you. I noticed the same difference on the brochure. Maybe it was an early prototype. It also probably shows that both you and me were staring far too long at the brochure while eagerly awaiting the delivery of our cars!

As for the issues to look out for, I believe there is new thread now on the forum that is soliciting problems that everyone has encountered. You may want to check that out. Personally I've had the CD changer / HK audio gateway and SOS teleaid problems. Oh, I was able to get my dealer to swap the original H rated tires for W rated tires (since I have the sports package) this past Friday. You may want to check your tires before you start racking up the miles and it'll be too late. Since your car is brand new, your dealer shouldn't put up a fuss.

Good luck with the new car and enjoy!

Thanks guys, I'll look into the tire rating and the other thread regarding E class issues.

And, yes, I did spend too much time staring at the brochure as I awaited "the right" deal!

I've seen that interior too.......it's actually an early prototype I think they had, before they switched it to black dials and the aluminium shift. Probably pre-production....I do like the ivory A/C dials though.

I could be wrong.

With all the issues about pulling to the right, camber, alignment I wish I had told the dealership that they had to fix it before I bought it. I wonder if they even check on this when they prep the vehical anymore. A Mercedes Benz should go stright down the highway with the steering wheel centered.
