E500 Acceleration..

What is that clicking sound that occurs when you press the gas pedal. Sounds like a diesel engine.
BTW, I MISS MY E500. It has been gone for 8 days and counting.........

clicking sound? please be more informative. do you mean the engine? if so, any engine will be loud under full acceleration, especially this big of one. if it isnt the engine tell us what type of clicking, and if you can point out where its coming from

what happened to your btw?

Diesel-like ticking most likely means that you got the bad motor mounts. There is a service bulletin out on this issue. Tell your dealer about it, they should already know, considering a whole lot of early 2003s have the problem.

oooooooo, wow, i just made a big mistake, im sorry, for some reason, i thought i read under full acceleration, MB

a good way to see if you have the motor mount problem is 1. go check out other E's at the dealer, but i think the simplest way to check is just pop the hood. let some one start up the car....when they start it up, you will see the engine move a little. notice how much it moved, and tell them to revv the engine up to about 3 rpms and see if the engine rocks a lot more than when it did when you started it. if it does, just tell your dealer you have the motor mount problem. also, you can check out others at the dealer by doing this, if you arent sure. MB about before

Okay, i'll mention the motor mount problem to the dealer.
Oh yea, my car has been in the shop for 8 days because the car locked up; you couldn't turn the key in the ignition. The dealer does not know what is wrong so they ordered new keys, and it didn't work. So they are still trying to figure it out. I hope I get it back soon. I'm pissed!

I had something like that happen a couple times on a C320 when new, but it always would work after several (5 to 10) insertions of the key. As luck would have it, the day they replaced both keys on the car as a "fix" it locked up at the dealership, and the new keys also would not turn in the dash switch when I went to pick it up. Everything had worked for them and they had trained the new keys to the car. I kept my loaner, and they determined then it was an "electric steering lock failure" (per the work order). They replaced that and no problems thereafter.

The symptom was that I would not get the "sliding pin sound" that unlocks the wheel when you first insert the SmartKey, and thus the key would not turn.

I recall it started as 2 days to get the 2 new keys (for an '01 C320) and then the keys needed to be in the slot to be trained by the car for the better part of a day. That was a Thursday drop off, I tried to pick it up Saturday morning but it was really locked then. The MB mechanic on duty that Saturday later said he and some other techs had to get it up on dollies in the lot and push it in the shop by hand.

The electronic steering lock was ordered Monday and the work order indicates I picked up the car Thursday. It may have been ready Wednesday evening but since I'm 100 miles out I may have opted for the next morning. They had to R&R the entire dash to do it, but let me put your mind at ease--you could not tell they ever touched it. I'm super critical of cars and I could find no evidence of the work, no misalignment, no scratches, no rattles or buzzes afterward. I had the car for another 10 months until the E without incident.
