Best trickle charger for winter storage
I'm planning on driving my car to my folk's house tomorrow and then it'll be put away for the winter. I have everything else all set up but I still need a trickle charger to keep the battery strong until spring.
I also have a sport bike that I would want to keep the battery in good condition so if you know of a charger that allows you to connect it to a car and a bike at the same time that would be ideal but I am open to opinons and would like to know what everyone else has used with success in the past.

I highly recommend either the Schumacher SEM-1562A:

or SE-1-12S:
http://m.advanceautoparts.com/mt/sho...hTerm=SE-1-12S
Many also use these in whole house generators that are connected year-round to keep a battery fully charged, but not over charged.
Connecting to two batteries at the same time would NOT be ideal as either one battery will be undercharged, or the other one will be overcharged. The maintainer needs to monitor the battery individually to be safe and optimum.

I use the CTek as well. Have had nothing but great luck over several years.

I don't really drive my car very much and even less in the winter. I replaced the battery with an OEM (dealer installed) in Sept 2013 and today the battery failed to start the vehicle. I called MBRACE and someone from the dealership came and jump started the vehicle. The Tech said the battery was fine but I should use a trickle charger, something I've never had to use before; this winter in the NE has brought very cold weather and it is extremely cold in the garage.
I just ordered the CTEK MUS 4.3 Polar, designed for very low temperature use where both power and output cords can sustain very low temperatures; besides it has two output levels 0.8A for small batteries and up to 4.3A for vehicle batteries.

Someone please point out to me that this post is three years old. Anyway I had a battery tender brand trickle charger on a motorcycle several years ago. Randomly I put my hand on the side of the battery and it was red hot to the touch. Seems the charger was malfunctioning and failed to shut off when the batter was at full charge. This caused all the acid to evaporate out and the battery started to melt down. Spend the money on a Ctek charger with winter mode.
