Retrofits

Greetings!

I've just registered on this board and I must say it's been a great source of information on the W211. If only I had known about it prior to my order

FYI, I'm in Adelaide, Australia. If all goes well I should have my E320 delivered sometime in Oct as it is going into the Aug production.

As it is too late for me to make any changes to my order I was wondering if anyone knows whether the following is possible:

1. As I'm getting the elegance package the wood trim will be the burr walnut. I would prefer the black bird's eye maple. Can this be retro fitted?

2. I'm still not sure if I need the bi-xenons yet. However, can these be retrofitted as well?

To any Aussie W211 owners out there, any info if the Command/DVD for the Aussie market will be able to play DVD's?

Thanks in advance!

hi, welcome to the the boards, since im in the U.S. i am not completely sure on my answers. i am sure that the wood cannot be retrofitted and the same for the lights. i think the command can play DVD's, ask kevinR, i think thats his name, do a search, and you can private message him, welcome again

My Command II retro fit was completed this week. The unit plays CD'd DVD's and VCD's. The navigation unit uses a separate DVD unit in the trunk.

Excellent!!

I presume you got the 'Where Is It' DVD? If so, I'd appreciate it if you could tell me the version #.

Have you considered disabling the auto-shut down of the DVD/TV when the car is moving? If so, any known issues by doing this?

Does the Command II show individual street names now? For example, if you're in the city, and zoomed to 200m, and you're on Bourke St, will it display the surrounding street names like Russel St, Little Bourke St etc... ?

We've got a Command I on the S430 and it did not display the surrounding street names which was a hassle when one is trying to navigate quickly without having to input street names. I was surprised this feature was omitted. Even the VDO unit I installed on my wifes A-class has this feature.

BTW, I go to Melb every month...any chance for a day rental of your E55?!?!

Thanks for the info.
