New owner, need Information

Thank you kindly for the warm welcome. My question is. Is their anything in the engine bay or vehicle that I need to change ASAP, so to avoid any problems down the road.?

I have heard to rid myself of the radiator and get another brand? is this true? if so, which brand should I get? Please inform me of what all should be done to this vehicle as I want to take care of everything right away.

This is what I have heard so far.

- transmission flush
- rear end flush
- brake system flush
- radiator flush (with a different brand radiator also)
- fuel filter (?)
- call Mercedes (and get all the free RECALLS issues taken care of)

Other areas I would like to address are

- Where do you folks place your iPhone in the Mercedes? and what cord or items i need to use the music like a ipod in the vehicle?

- I would like to add bluetooth, Is their a way I can find if I have the wiring already?

- Could I upgrade my navigation to the Command Navigation? (I 'm able to get this part free >>>

- Can I add DDM hids in my year vehicle (high, low and fogs) if so, than which ones to buy?

- My alarm does not make a sound, I think it's just a theft deterrent one, So what alarms have you good folks put in your car? (I would like a auto start one )

Thanks so much and I look forward to many replies.

Check the FSS and see what service is needed.

You didn't state your mileage so it is difficult.

What is important is use the correct engine oil. I used Mobile 1 European formual 0W40 and ONLY fleece MB or MANN filters.

This is a good place to start.

Okay great! I have 117,000 miles on vehicle and I just called mercedes here and gave vin, and they said all recall info was taken care of by dealer and that their is a extended warranty on the SBC HYDRAULIC UNTIL 12/2013, and said to bring it in so they can fix it.

If the dealer checks the vin and states the recall issues have all been performed, should I believe them? just asking.

Yes, you should. If there was a recall they would WANT you to come in so they can repair it and bill Mercedes corporate to get paid.

Based on your mileage...

This is what I have heard so far.

- transmission flush.........should do around 80,000 miles

- rear end flush................ do this if it hasn't been done.

- brake system flush.........required every 2 yrs but if dealer is changing SBC let them do it as part of repair

- radiator flush (with a different brand radiator also)....... change fluid, water pump, hoses @ 150,000........why change rad if it isn't leaking now?

- fuel filter (?) ...........check your fuel tank for leaks under the back seat. If it is leaking you have way more than fuel filter to repair. If not why change the filter. It is very expensive and requires replacement of the fuel system in the tank. Think $500+ for this job.

Okay great, the reason for the change in radiator, although it is not leaking. I'm one of those who believe in, it's better safe than sorry. I have driven BMW's for years and some of the models are know to have catastropic radiator failure, and KABOOM right when you are driving. and the explosion ends up ruining more than the radiator. So it's a simple life insurance policy for me.
