MBUSA extended warranty

This is a repost due to original lost in down time.

Im thinking about getting a refund (prorate) from my 2 year extended warranty. The dealor AND MBUSA confirms it to be about 90%. My thinking is, since I'm thing seriously about not keeping the car the full time for the factory warrenty why not cash out and put that money into some money making funds.

OR...take the refund money ($1800) and buy a better warrenty from Lisa....longer cheeper....that idea got shoot down today when I spoke to Lisa and she indicated that MB is not allowing someone to repurchase a extended warrenty if they had cancelled one in the past.

What are your thoughts?

you mean at any time, on any car? so if you cancel an extended warranty on a C class that you sell, then buy an E class, MB won't let you buy a warranty on that new car?

I don't buy that - Lisa is probably saying that SHE won't sell you a warranty if you cancelled one PURCHASED FROM HER in the past.

But if true, what an unfriendly (and ridiculous) consumer policy!

NO...what lisa said was that if I cancel my extended warranty on my E , I cannot purchase and extended waranty on that same vin number again.

MBUSA also confirmed this.

Sorry...

I misunderstood - it does indeed make sense to disallow yet another mb-xw on the same car.

What is wrong with the MB extended warranty you have now? Why are you cancelling it and thinking about buying the same thing from Lisa?

I am confused

eteen-Nothing is wrong with the exttended warranty I have now except that I paid too much for it. The original thought, before Lisa told me that a existing MBUSA extended warranty on a particular vin number vehicle could NOT be repurchashed at a later date for the same vin number vehicle, was to get a refund because after reviewing these threads I discovered I paid too much and I had intended to repurchase a longer and cheeper one (MBUSA) from Lisa for the same monies that I would be getting back from mine.

I know this has been posted before, but if it's easy to do, can you tell me how much the extended warranty costs (was it $1,800) and how I can reach Lisa? I have until the end of January to buy the extended warranty, and I think I will if I can get it for around $1,800. I feel a bit ripped off on the warranty (not their fault, I guess) because I only drive about 5,000 miles a year. I've had my car 7 months and I may turn 2,500 miles in the next week or two!lol At the end of 4 years, I'll only have 20,000 miles max on the car. I don't think I even get one major service under the initial warranty!

Do a search in this forum for "Lisa" and her number will be on one of those posts.

This is Lisa's email address. If you email she will reply and give you whatever info you need. Tell her the Year and Model and she will give you a quote right away. She works for a dealer in Chico California and sells the official MB Warranty for a huge discount. Compare her price to your dealer and you will get an idea of what the markup must be. The warranty is good anywhere no matter where you buy it.

lisamarie@lehrbaum.net

Let me know if it doesn't work for some reason.
