sports package option?

is it really worth the extra jump in money? I mean, people on this board are going to change the wheels and suspension sooner or later so why opt for the sports package?

i think thats kind of a broad question. the sports package is like 13 hundred something on a E500 which has size size whels, xenons, black wood, front lens washer, and that it i believe, thats a pretty good price for all of that. on the other hand, a sports package for an E320 is little bit less than 4 thousand. which includes bigger rims, and an Air-Suspension...i think the Air-Suspension is a great option, plus not a lot of people change thier rims, and suspension systems.

For the 500 it is worht it on looks alone! The 320 it is an even better deal with the AirM.

How will the existance of the 2 packages work for '04? If you get the AMG sport option, does that include the items in the old sport package as well? The way I read things is I will have to order the 2 items seperately, 1 for the old sport package and then another for the AMG to get the exhaust package. Do I have this right?

I do not believe you can order the AMG kit and the appearance package together. Its either one or the other.. If you ordered the AMG kit you would probably have to order the airmatic suspension and headlamp washer/bi-xenon package seperately.

Considering I was trying to get my mom to order the Airmatic, Xenons, and bodykit, the Sport package was perfect for my purposes. Plus, she's not the type to blow another 4 grand on aftermarket wheels so if I was gonna get upgraded tires along with all the other options I wanted, that was my best shot. Thank goodness she didn't like the looks of the stock E class without the body kit. For the price of a new set of rims and tires, we got a bunch of other options too.

I have the sport package but the car basically looks the same. Nobody can tell the difference between sport and non-sport.

yea you can. from the front, you can see the headlamp washing system. from the sides you can see the rims, and the sport logos. from the rear you can tell by the tail lights, the comb type brake lights, of course on the inside there is the wood, and gauges.

Some of us are perfectly happy with the "stock" sports package and have no desire to upgrade to different rims or other cosmetic upgrades. For me personally the sports package contained enough options that I would have ordered independently, that buying the sports package made more financial sense. Now that I am driving the car I am more than happy with the sports package and wouldn't have it any other way.

Sports

I personally much prefer the look of the interior that comes with the sport. (The early European Advangarde--Sport models--were even nicer. Many of the controls like A/C dials, seat memory pads, mirror control pads were all in a silver matte finish. Cool!)

I also like the sport wheels better than the standard ones and have no plans on changing them. If our E500 were an AMG, now, that would be another matter.

It's nice we have options since so many things are subjective. Last September I picked up an E500 Sport at the factory. For me, the black wood didn't look good with my charcoal interior. The white gagues are ok but not my preference. Also, I didn't like the wheels so needless to say I have not ordered the "Apperance Package" on the E500 I'm picking up in October. Wouldn't it be dull if we all liked the same things?

The Black burl with Charcoal--as I mentioned in another thread--is way too Batman-ish for me. Too dark and too dreary. I had no idea it would look that bad. I saw that in my replacement car that MB messed up on. Good thing they did, since I changed the interior back to Ash on the replacement to my replacement car.

Convoluted, isn't it?

The brown wood is too stodgy and mercedes traditional ...

I LOVE the black burl ... just one of the many reasons I got the sport package for my bat mobile .... Signed, BATMAN!
