How to get more low? ( issue with rear coilovers)

Hi all,

Just had my coilovers installed in my e-class and the ride is amazing, so much better than my old stock shocks and springs.

Basically the issue I'm having is apparently because on the rear the car uses a strut and a spring on a perch system I'm inable to lower the car to great lengths as the spring won't let it lower? The fronts use a coilover strut and spring on top of it and I can get the front bumper scraping on the ground.

Do you guys have any experience with this at all? Apparently I can get the spring compressed a little bit but I'm not really sure the issue lies with just the spring?

Anyway any pics or tips would be great

the rear still uses the same method (adjustable collar with spring) you can remove the preload on the rear, remove a perch, or buy a shorter spring.

what coil overs do you have?

what crafty said.

or you can drop the lower conotrol arms from the middle of the car, and the spring will fall out. adjust and put back in and bolt it back up. done.

+1 for what brand/model coilover you went with.

Went with some DGR street coilovers, looked at brands like KW and D2 but couldn't see spending over $1500 plus installation. So I went with DGR and imported them myself from the manufacturer and they are fantastic, qualities good, customer service has been great and they came in 3 days with DHL.

I'll post up some pics later on.

The back as a separate spring and an adjustable shock. Unlike the front which has the adjustable shock with a spring on it.

Upon looking at the diagram that came with the coilovers, im lead to believe that the threaded black piece inside the spring is upside down and should be on the top instead of on the bottom. So the shop has installed them upside down?

Can anybody confirm this or check on their cars with coils?

Here are some pics, you can see the diagram and the rear spring.

To be clear...you didn't want to spend $1500 plus install....but $1400 plus install was the reason you imported them? I am going by prices on the Manufacturers site.

yea i believe those are backwards, cause the LCA in the rear has a little pocket for the spring to twist into. the perches in the instructions, the 2nd and 3rd piece from the top of the digram can be removed to go lower.

D2 cost the same as k sports, unless they charged $500 ish for instal then you were quoted well above retail for that suspension
