Newbie with a New Car
Newbie with a New Car
Just purchased a starmarked nav return E500, black/charcoal with E2. Car has 11,600 miles and I paid $47,900. Damn this car is sweet. Nice cruiser. Coming from a BMW fan, I just couldn't buy the new 5 series. Car is actually for my wife. I still have a E46 coupe and still am a Bimmer fan. Does owning a Mercedes force me to root for McClaren?

same here. the new 5 looks like a nissan to me. and with the sport settings..it drives just as good. it is a bigger car than the current 5, so you have to consider that when cornering.

Here's a picture of it. The E500 will be coming soon, after I get a chance at a couple of coats of Zaino.

I think this time with black and it's the first time I wax the car, I will wash with Dawn, clay bar, 3 coats of Z5 and 2-3 coats of Z2. Having a black car is going to kill me because it shows off dirt and scratches. But, it's the best color for a Mercedes. My opinion anyway.

Welcome aboard and congrats on your new car. The E500 is indeed a smooth riding marvel of automobile technology. Before we picked up ours, I considered the '03 540 and was going to get as much as $3,500 under invoice from one dealer. I am glad we stuck with MB.
I think you will be very happy with your E-500. I loved my first one without the NAV and now am breaking in my new NAV replacement vehicle. However, the only thing not working on the new car is the NAV. I'm sure they will solve that problem.
My wife and I had the opportunity to drive the new Maybach at the California Speedway in Fontana this morning and really enjoyed the experience. They flew us by helicopter from Orange County airport right to the Speedway and back and treated us like royalty for the entire visit. Each of us got to drive on the track and pylon course layout at high speeds and through agressive turning maneuvers. We also had a high speed run on the track with one of their professional drivers at speeds up to 135 mph. The car is very smooth and quiet at all speeds.
For manuvers through the pylons, the car tends to roll more than our E-500's but still quite fast for such a heavy car with a higher CG. Acceleration is similar to our E's, and the Nav appeared to be identical. The car has numerous luxury items and I'd prefer it to one of today's Rolls Royce's but for the price, I don't think you can beat our E-500.
Enjoy your new E!!

After 20 years with BMW, and 13 cars, I changed to MB. Will get my new S211 primo October, and I will pick it up in Stuttgart. Took me 10 minutes with a demo car to convince me. Was about to order the new 5-series, but I do not like the new Chris Bangle design. And to be honest, I tried the bimmer, but I found the MB superiour in every aspect.
