Question about Self Leveling System
Hello All,
My driveway is extremely steep. Steep enough that the rear bodywork (lower bumper cover) of the car actually rubs the flat sidewalk as I begin my climb up the driveway (or as I descend). I have an '04 E320 4Matic Wagon (non-Airmatic) with the Self Leveling System.
Wondering if the SLS adjusts to the angle of the driveway. If so, I wonder if the SLS has already raised the rear to the maximum height when I'm climbing the driveway. Perhaps there's a way to increase the angle even more. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

SLS does not try to keep the car horizontal but keeps the rear suspension height steady, independent of the load at the trunk. If it was trying to keep the car horizontal, the car would look funny if you were driving somewhere like San Francisco, uphill or downhill.

My old Citroen BX19GT (back in England) had a three position hydraulic height adjustment, the max height position looked really funny but came in really handy whenever I visited a friend whose drive leapt from the street at 30+ degrees incline.
