Low Idle

Good morning Fellow enthusiast...

I have a low Idle (500rpms) and a slight vibration. I know the Vibration is from motor mounts, it has 103k miles on it. My concern is the low RPM. I just had the Service D and new Spark Plugs done. little over 1500 miles ago.

I am sorry but I am not that familiar with DAS Xentry or the STAR system. I guess I need to take it in to a shop and get them to run it?

Yes take it to a shop and have them hook up the STAR diagnostics computer to it. It will tell you if you have any ECU faults or problems of the sort. It could be a problem with injectors if you are getting a rough idle or vibration, but in any case I suggest getting the motor mounts replaced as well and not to wait too long on that.

Also check for vacuum leaks, a typical cause of rough idle. Check for cracks in pipes/hoses.

What do you describe as a rough idle?

My idle doesn't jump. While in park it is at about 750rpm, in neutral it will sit at 800rpm and when in drive it will settle to 500-600rpm (I can't get the exact number, but it doesn't jump up or down). Is that normal?

I don't think 500 rpm's indicate a problem, if all you have are normal consistent vibrations then it's just mounts.

Thanks. Taking it in to have the mounts done soon during my Service B. I was quoted $500 for the engine mount/installation. Is that about what people expect?

For parts and labor that sounds like a good price.
Each mount is about $140, make sure they replace the exhaust bolts if you ever want to remove them again.
