The car drives impeccably but yesterday was kind of a dampener because the SBC pump has reached its service limit. The dealership is cool and will replace it at no charge but the dilemma now is should I keep it or get rid of it ASAP. I would say I'm an advanced DIYer and I did all of the above mentioned repairs on my own and have most tools available. I also have a star diagnosis system that I can use to control the SBC. But they quoted me 3k if I get it done in another 10 years. I'm wondering if anyone out there that is a tech at a dealership or has alot of epxerience knows what the exact procedure is and what is it that makes it 3k... is it the part cost or the labor cost. Also is it just the SBC pump that is replaced or are there other components. If it's possible to do it on my own with the star unit I have for under 1000 I might consider keeping it but otherwise I think I'm going to sell this sucker and cut my losses now.
