What transmission number do I have in '09 E350 4matic Wagon?
How can I find out what tranny number I have in my 2009 E350 4matic wagon?722.6, 722.9, or other? I'm told depending on the tranny type I have, the changeof fluid is either 40K or 100K miles.

Yours is a 722.6 5-Speed Transmission.
Standard E350s had 722.9 7-Speed Auto Boxes but yours is a 4Matic which didn't come with the 722.9 until the W212.
Fluid should be changed every 40K. 100K is too much between fluid changes.

Trans fluid changes
Per the M-B Maintenance Booklet (Part# 230 584 10 95), the E350 4Matic transmission fluid and filter should be changed each 40K miles or 4 years. Plus the transfer case should be flushed and filled (only) at the first 40K or 4 years.
For removal of doubt, every owner should have a copy of this extensive booklet.

Good info. Thanks. The Indie guy I'm bringing it too has said 2x now not to do it until 100K but I will insist on doing it now (42K mi) when he does the transfer case fluid...which he said not to do yet either. I wonder why he would be reluctant to do these things if it means business for him. I appreciate not being sold service I don't need but to discourage business like this makes no sense. Are these just low margin jobs or particularly hard to do? I don't get it.
