ive heard from a couple people that the E class isnt currently available with navigation.. anyone know anything about this?, reason i ask is because my dad is planning on getting an E320 in a week or so. thanks.

 

If he gets an '03...it is not available and can not be retrofitted.

If he gets an '04 the Navigation can be ordered with the car.

 

My E-class estate is a 04 model..with NAV. I waited for the 04 production because of the NAV (Not available in 03) 04 production started end July. There has also been some other upgrades to the 04 model, mostly minor things...So tell your dad to get a 04!

Just picked up my replacement NAV vehicle last Friday and saw the dealer had a couple of 2003 e320s w/NAV on the lot. Irked me a little as I thought people w/NAV swap would get taken care of first (as dealer got those in before mine).

 

Maybe they are replacement cars for other customers.

 

so what is the deal with these people that have "nav replacement" cars... are they allowing people who bought an '03 without navigation to trade them in for one with navigation?

 

do the late model '03s have navigation? im thinkin my dad will take advantage of being able to get 2000 back of invoice, so if its only an '04 option, its not gonna look too good for navi.

 

you should do a search on "nav replacement" in the w211 e-class forum. there is a lot of info in those threads.

yea they gave new cars to the people who ordered NAV.

no regular production 03 has NAV. if you really want it, the only way to get one is to get an 04.

 

No, they were not replacement cars. My salesman told me they were available for sale. Just call HBL if you're interested -- though I do recall someone saying they were part of axis of evil

 

Sorry...my car has 5 speed automatic transmission, no 7 speed.But 5 speed is great though!.

 

so basically its '04 with nav or '03 without nav and thats it. right? is there a way to have the nav installed in an '03? at the dealer prior to delivery of the car?

 

you are correct about the 04 and 03 thing, dealing with a retrofit is not possible

basically when we ordered paid for our cars, mostly before the year 03 we ordered NAV. at the time it was a "delayed option" and MB promised us that it would be retrofitted into our cars during the first 3 months of the year 2003. they even gave us a 500 discount. when the time came, they didnt retrofit it, and made us wait for an even longer time. then finally in the 4th or 5th month, they announced that everyone would get a new car with the NAV installed at the factory.

everyone just did a swap. no charges no nothing.
