Adding an under dash cabin filter

For e-class car that only have the cabin filter on the right side of the engine compartment, can one be jerry rigged to have a filter for the recirculated air?

What's the air flow pattern? There's a rectangular air vent on the passenger's left and a bunch of holes directly above the leg area.

Any commercial or home made add-on under dash cabin designs?

Using the EPC, I've compared between 2004 (which have the interior cabin filters) and the 2005 (which do not) and found that the main housing itself is different.
