my dealer mentioned that there could be a one week incentive by mbusa for about 2,500 off to help move '03's before the end of Sept.

Yeah, I just read it in the paper. I believe it's $499/mo. with something like $4000 down for a 42 month lease with only 36K miles. Remember, this is for a bone stock, base model E320. Good luck if this is the route you're taking. Not enought miles in the lease term IMO...

verified

This was leaked about a week ago. Is this because of lagging sales. over stock, new models coming out?

I had heard some talk that it was to compete with BMW 5's and their cheap leases...I think they were offering something like $2999 down and $399/mo with the same terms. Also, high residual values are also causing the lower downs and lower monthly payments.

My guess is that they have to deal with the fact that they have approx. 2,500 near new NAV replacement returns on the Resale lot, competing with the year end new models. One estimate I heard was the MBZ was going to lose about $10k per unit on the NAV replacement deal.

That's the estimate I also heard from a reliable source.

Numbers like the above don't mean anything in the real world. For example, the above is probably on a base E320, and on 60 month terms with 10k miles per year. Plus you don't know what the down payment is.

Bottom line: there are good deals to be had out there, especially since getting a E320 under invoice is no problem out in California.

Here is what I was able to negotiate at the end of July:

$1500 total drive off, $600/mo plus tax for 48 months, with 12k miles per year.
Details of the Car: 03 E320 (just delivered to dealer with 13 miles); Platinium Blue/Ash, E2 (Harmon Kardon and Sunroof); E3 (Sport Package; Factory Installed CD Changer
MSRP: $54,715.

Not a bad deal in my book

thats not really a big savings from before. you could get it for 0 down and 650-700 a month. so 4k down and 500 a month really isnt that big of a savings.
