Heated steering wheel question.

Searching left me a little confused. My heated steering wheel doesn't really get hot. Is it temp dependent somehow that it won't heat up if outside temp is above a certain level? Or should it work regardless of whatever the ambient temperature is.... Thanks.

I did not............since you've lost me re: actuation temps ??

All I saw was pages 248-249 with short entry on how to turn heated wheel off and on.

Is the interior of your car less than 30C----if not guess what happens---FYI visit the dealer there is a rather large write up on the subject!!

Rather than me guessing, and/or visiting the dealer, how about you just tell me or direct me to the "rather large write up" that you reference.......

I wish I could, however that is not possible.

The document is a WIS doc outlining the design, features and location of components of the heated steering wheel.

PM member Konigstiger, in the past he has been very helpfully in providing similar documentation!!

So it sounds like we're saying heated steering wheel doesn't kick in unless temp is below that cut-off?

Are heated seats also somehow not kicking in to full heat unless ambient temp is below this pre-set temp?

Both my wheel and seat heat seem wimpy. My old 7 series BMW heated steering wheel got almost uncomfortably hot anytime of year you turned it on and seat heater you could use to fry an egg......( well, maybe not quite).

You have not done your home work---- first read your manual, your front seats have multiple heating stages based on button actuation and interior cabin temps(grater than 42,45 and 55C---if not available outside temps are substituted) -----don't bash the system until you know how to use the features on your car.

No bashing........I'm quite happy with my purchase.... Just puzzled why MB put some sort of arbitrary temp qualifier as to when the feature will, or will not, kick in. Who's to say I don't want to blast my seAt heat at max setting on way to golf course in mid summer 90 degree heat. Loosen up the back a little.
